Man City in Liverpool contact about team bus 'welcome' threats

Manchester City are in contact with Liverpool over social media posts urging Reds fans to repeat their team coach “welcome" of 2018.

The posts are similar to those which invited Anfield fans to “greet" the City coach as it makes its way to the ground for Sunday's crucial Premier League clash.

The Manchester Evening News says it is not clear from where the new “posters" have come, but City officials have been concerned enough to raise the matter with Liverpool.

City are understood to have sought assurances from Liverpool that there will be no repeat of the scenes which saw bottles, flares and other objects thrown at the bus.

Merseyside Police are also believe to be aware of the matter but are not anticipating any problems, while Liverpool have emphasised that they work closely with the police on matchday security.
