Manchester City's owners are hopeful of concluding a deal to buy Nancy in Ligue 2.
The French club would allow the City Football Club to continue its network of teams that spans many continents.
The Daily Mail reports the CFG has been in negotiations to buy the club that is in the second division of French football.
Nancy's president Jacques Rousselot said last month that a deal was nearly done.
The CFG already has teams in America, Spain, China, Japan, Uruguay and Australia.
But it appears the COVID-19 crisis has complicated the deal to buy Nancy, which means that further negotiations are needed before any breakthrough can be made.
