Man City hope to complete Rodri deal by next week

Manchester City are keen on signing Rodri from Atletico Madrid this week.

The central midfielder is a key target for Pep Guardiola as he hopes to add competition for Fernandinho in the defensive midfield role.

Rodri has a release clause of €70 million that City will activate to complete the deal.

ESPN believes the deal will be done in seven to ten days.

Atletico Madrid have signed Macros Llorente from rivals Real Madrid to replace Rodri.

Rodri will be the statement signing by City this summer, but they are also interested in acquiring a central defender to replace Vincent Kompany.

They have been linked with Harry Maguire from Leicester City, but his price tag of nearly 100 million may put them off.
