Manchester City are launching a bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.
The Daily Star says City boss Roberto Mancini will make an offer for Italy striker Rossi - if he misses out on Alexis Sanchez, the Udinese winger.
Rossi, 23, was desperate to join Barcelona but the Spanish giants failed to match Villarreal's £26.5m asking price.
Rossi who played for Manchester United before leaving for Spanish giants Villarreal, would be seen as the ideal replacement for Tevez, who has been linked to Juventus.
