A weakened Manchester City side went down 1-0 to a United Arab Emirates side in humid conditions at Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City. The only goal of the game was a penalty in the eighth minute after keeper Stuart Taylor had brought down UAE skipper Saeed Al Kasand and Mohamed Al Shihi converted from twelve yards.
Pablo Zabaleta, Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha were the only established first-team players named by boss Mark Hughes in a young City line-up.
