Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo insists they were deserved victors against Porto.

City won their Champions League group opener 3-1 at the Etihad.

Cancelo said later: "Yes, yes. I think the result is very fair. The referee's criterion was not the same for the two teams, because we saw yellow to the slightest foul we did. Both were good teams and we were better and deserved to win.

"Yes, it is true that we were not expecting the way they played, because it is not their normal structure, but during the game we got used to the way they played. They are a very physical and combative team as they have been at FC Porto in the last years, but we were superior in all aspects of the game and we deserve the victory."
