Man City fighting to keep hold of West Ham target Ake

Manchester City are reluctant to lose Nathan Ake in January.

The Athletic says City are unlikely to allow centre-back Ake to leave the club in the January transfer window, amid recent reports linking the Dutchman with a move to West Ham United.

City will not consider accepting offers for the defender next month, despite mounting interest.

Ake, who joined City from AFC Bournemouth in August 2020, following the Cherries' relegation to the Championship, has struggled for regular opportunities so far this season, making just 11 appearances in all competitions.

Of those 11 appearances, only six of them have come in the Premier League, meaning the former Chelsea man is bound to be feeling a tad frustrated about his lack of game time this term.

With opportunities proving to be limited, it is reported that Ake has become the source of interest from West Ham, with the Londoners looking to add a left-footed centre-back to their ranks ahead of the second half of the season.
