A Manchester City fan is in critical condition after an altercation at their UEFA Champions League game with Schalke.

The club has said one of their supporters is in the hospital in critical care, due to an altercation that took place after their 3-2 win over the German club in midweek.

City hope that anyone who has information will contact the police to provide details.

"The club are working with Greater Manchester Police and German Police to ascertain more information," said the club in a statement.

"Club staff have remained in Germany to support the family of [the] injured City fan."

It has soured an otherwise great night for City, as they overcame a 2-1 deficit to win the game 3-2.
