Manchester City are eyeing Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez for the summer market.
City manager Pep Guardiola views Gimenez as a potential solution to the defensive problems caused by former captain Vincent Kompany's departure last summer.
The Times says a move for Gimenez is now being prepared at City's end.
However, any deal looks costly. Atlético Madrid are said to be demanding €120m to sell the Uruguay international.
Giménez joined Atletico from Danubio in the summer of 2013 and has a contract until the summer of 2023.
