Man City eye Xabi Alonso to replace Arteta

Manchester City are eyeing another Spaniard for their coaching staff should Mikel Arteta go to Arsenal.

The current City no.2 is wanted by the Gunners for their vacant managerial position.

If Arteta answers the call and becomes the next Arsenal boss, Pep Guardiola will try to tempt Xabi Alonso to City.

The news comes out of the Daily Star.

Alonso and Guardiola worked together at Bayern Munich, while he has coached Real Madrid under-14s and Real Sociedad B in subsequent years.

Another name being mentioned is former Dutch footballer Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was Feyenoord manager until January.

Van Bronckhorst has a positive relationship with City's board, as he has worked with the City Football Group in the past.

He is also being linked to the manager's job at their NYCFC MLS team.
