Manchester City will not accept defeat in the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus. The Daily Star says City are willing to make Reus one of the highest-paid stars in Manuel Pellegrini's squad on a deal worth around £200,000-a-week.

The attacking midfielder, who has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, has just returned to action for the first time since November following damaged ankle ligaments.

Boss Pellegrini is a big admirer of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder and will pull out all the stops to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.

Reus has a £20m release clause in his contract and is also a target of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
