Manchester City's interest in Bruno Fernandes last summer was non-existent, according to reports.
City manager Pep Guardiola was baffled by questioning about the Portugal international, who was reportedly on the brink of joining the reigning champions.
And the London Evening Standard says there was in fact no interest from City to bring the 25-year-old to Manchester.
City's rivals, United, were frustrated at the time by what they saw as attempts to create a bidding war between the two clubs.
Eventually Fernandes signed across for United in January. He has since been a revelation at Old Trafford, picking up the Premier League Player of the Month award for February.
