Man City deny claims of players' anti-Liverpool chant

Manchester City have denied accusations their players sung a chant relating to Liverpool fan Sean Cox or the Hillsborough tragedy.

A video on social media has shown City players singing a chant where they had changed the lyrics of Liverpool's 'Allez Allez Allez' chant to 'battered in the streets'.

However, City says the chant has been regularly sung by supporters during the 2018/19 season and references Liverpool's loss in the Champions League final last year.

"Any suggestion that the lyrics relate to Sean Cox or the Hillsborough tragedy is entirely without foundation," the City statement said.
