Man City deliver UEFA Cup victory to Hughes

Manchester City enjoyed a comfortable victory in the first-leg of their UEFA Cup qualifier against EB Streymur.

It was Mark Hughes' first competitive game in charge of City and the Faroe Islanders never looked like causing a shock, although they did improve in the second half.

Martin Petrov's howitzer of a shot gave City an early lead, which they doubled before the break thanks to a spectacular Dietmar Hamann volley.

Record signing Jo made his City debut but the striker was outshone by Petrov.

The Brazilian's only chance came before the break when he headed a Petrov cross inches wide and the 21-year-old was replaced by Ched Evans in the 73rd minute.
