Manchester City defender Micah Richards feels he's playing his way back into England contention.
The right back has won 12 England caps to date, with his last appearance coming in 2007.
Richards said: "I want to push on and get in the seniors now, and there is no reason why I can't if I'm starting in Manchester City's team."
He added that the backing he has received from Under 21 boss Stuart Pearce has spurred him on to achieve greater things in his career.
He said: "When the boss has confidence in you that definitely helps your game, and for him to say that if I concentrate I can become one of the best defenders in England is quite a compliment to get from your manager."
