Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte insists they'll be back next season in better shape.

Laporte has vowed not to hide following the defensive horror show that led to City 's Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon.

He said: “Just to be clear: I will not hide, I'm a football player but a man foremost, we all made mistakes in this game, and I also take my responsibility for the bad team performance tonight.

“But this decision is hard to accept, especially in a crucial qualifier AND with the help of VAR."

Laporte posted footage of support for him in the BT Sport studio from Rio Ferdinand and Gary Lineker and added: “Can't say @rioferdy5 is a big City fan, is he ?"
