Aymeric Laporte believes Manchester City team-mate Vincent Kompany deserves a new contract.

The Belgium international, who is out of contract next month, scored the winning goal in last night's win over Leicester City.

And Laporte thinks the 33-year-old provides valuable experience in the City dressing room.

"He is a guy who is very important for us, for the club," said the centre back. "I think he gives us a lot of things. He is an example for us.

"We have to improve and keep working with him because he can give a lot. He is a very good guy on an off the pitch."
