Man City defender Doyle: Youngsters taking their chances in preseason

Manchester City defender Tommy Doyle hopes that youngsters at the club can take their opportunities this preseason.

Manager Pep Guardiola has given several of his youth products a chance during friendly matches, including the 4-1 preseason win against Blackpool.

With first team stars returning to training, Doyle knows he and other talented youth products must grasp every chance that comes their way.

"Of course, it's most people's [target]," he told the club's website. "A few of us trained with the first-team last season.

"We've had a year of experience, training with the manager, players and staff everyday. That helps us massively.

"We had a brilliant coach in Enzo Maresca and Danny Walker, who helped us a lot. We were learning every day and for us to win the league was massive but the next step is to get into the first-team and play senior football where we can.

"The next step for us is to get into the first-team playing senior football when we can.

"It's been a good pre-season. We've got a lot of work in and everyone's feeling good and looking good. You can't complain with they games they've had - we've played well and scored a lot of goals so happy days!"
