Man City defender Ake hoping Guardiola stays

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake is keen for manager Pep Guardiola to sign a new contract.

Guardiola's current deal expires in June and Ake, sitting next to his manager, admits he wants him to stay.

"The manager has been so good for this club, it is one of the reasons I joined," said Ake.

"It is up to him. He is trying to win titles. We are focused on that first. We will see what happens afterwards."

The Dutchman says he is enjoying the "step up" after joining from Bournemouth in the summer.

"You are here to win trophies and titles. You play in big games, in the Champions League," said Ake.

"It's a good step up for me, to improve myself and learn from one of best managers in world."
