Man City defender Ake fulfilled childhood dream with Champions League goal

Manchester City centre-half Nathan Ake admits he fulfilled a lifelong dream by scoring in the Champions League.

The Dutchman, who can also play left-back, rose to head in one of City's six strikes against RB Leipzig in their first group stage game of the season.

City put on an entertaining show for their fans, finishing the game with a 6-3 win to mark manager Pep Guardiola's 300th game as City boss.

"The balls in were perfect, I'm so happy to score my first one, hopefully many more to come," Ake, who has often been out of the City side since his arrival, told the club website post-game.

"Last year I was close [to scoring], this year to get it in the first game is what you want as a little boy. To play this kind of stage and to score is amazing.

"Every time they got back in the game, we scored quite quick again so you make their hopes less. I'm happy with that."
