Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says it will be next week before Vincent Kompany will know whether he will be fit for Euro 2016.
Kompany suffered a groin injury after 10 minutes of City's Champions League semi-final defeat by Real Madrid on Wednesday.
"At this moment we don't know the results of the examination," he said.
"On Monday we will know. It is difficult to know about the Euros without the diagnosis."
Pellegrini, who will leave City at the end of the season, said it was not his responsibility to discuss Kompany's fitness in the future.
The Belgium captain has suffered five separate injuries this term, playing just 22 matches out of a possible 57.
"Every time he was in the starting XI he was fully fit," said Pellegrini. "You can be sure of that."
