Manchester City are battling Real Madrid for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman.

City and Real scouts watched the Dutchman in Europa League action against Hapoel Tel Aviv last week.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best players in the Eredivisie, having moved from Sparta Rotterdam to Utrecht, and then PSV in a whirlwind 12 months.

Strootman has also established himself as a key part of the Netherlands squad, and looks certain for another transfer in the coming windows.
