Kompany, 33, will be a free agent at the end of the season after spending 10 years with the club.
Talks over a new deal have yet to bring an agreement, but Kompany said: “When you've been at a club for such a long time, it's almost like dealing with your family members.
“You may agree or disagree, but in the end you'll come up with something - and you'll still be family at the end of the day.
“That's how I handle it, so there's no reason to speculate, or talk about anything externally. It will happen in house.
“I still feel there's 10 years to play for. I wake up every morning motivated.
“I still compete and try and find a way to convince the manager to put me in the squad."
