Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has played down talk of buying into Stockport County.

Kompany has moved to quell talk that he could invest in local non-league side Stockport as part of a Belgian consortium to buy out the club.

Kompany has a degree from Manchester Business School in Business Administration.

He told the Daily Mail: "There is speculation and there are rumours about Stockport but at the moment it is completely unfounded."
