Man City can dream of having ‘big players’ under Guardiola - Henry

Thierry Henry says Manchester City supporters can be excused for dreaming big following the confirmation of Pep Guardiola as their new manager.

The Spaniard will take over at the Etihad Stadium this summer after agreeing a three-year deal with City where he will replace Manuel Pellegrini.

Arsenal legend Henry played under Guardiola at Barcelona so is well-versed to pass judgement on the current Bayern Munich tactician who could potentially bring with him some massive names when he lays roots in Manchester.

"Obviously if you are a Man City fan right now, you can dream about having some great players," Henry said on Sky Sports.

"Not only because it is a great club and you have the resources, but Pep Guardiola will be the guy who can attract any player in the world that wants to be coached by him."

But Henry also made it clear that the 45-year-old is not afraid to give youth players an opportunity and that is unlikely to change at City.

"At my time at Barca, he put on the field through the ranks of the youth team the likes of Pedro and [Sergio] Busquets. Bojan was already there, also Jeffren - and I am not going to name all of them as it is a long list," he added.

"He did the same with Bayern Munich and I would like to think that obviously he is going to bring some big names, because he has the resources.

"But he is not scared of bringing young talent through, whether they are in the academy or young talent in Europe that will not be a big deal of money, like Kingsley Coman, who is now at Bayern Munich."

Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Neymar have already been heavily linked with City in recent months so expect those rumours to continue now that Guardiola has been given the job at City.
