Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has used AC Milan as an example of how important it is that the club's management team remains stable.

Guardiola says all major football clubs undergo cycles.

"I remember the Milan of Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello, who won in the Champions League. Then they no longer played nor won in Europe, for eight or nine years, and yet when I was little, Sacchi's Milan it was the team that everyone in the world admired, and we have to prevent this from happening.

"The greatest success for a club is stability, always staying on top."
