Man City boss Guardiola warns Sterling: You're not Messi

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told Raheem Sterling not to believe his own hype after the England winger was compared to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Guardiola has told Sterling not to be taken by those comparing him to Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, claiming the 24-year-old is not yet at the level of the world football icons.

“I'm so happy for him, for the way he's playing here and national team, but hopefully he won't read or listen to these kind of things," said Guardiola. “Nobody can compare with Cristiano [Ronaldo] or Lionel Messi.

“I don't know if he's the best in England, you're the journalist, but since we've been together, not just now, he's been incredible, with a great work ethic and he's a nice guy, so I'm delighted for him."
