Guardiola has been without a formal assistant manager since Arteta left for Arsenal earlier this season.
Marca says Guardiola is set to welcome Juanma Lillo as his No2, with the Spaniard terminating his contract with Quingdao Huanghai.
The pair have known eachother since 1997, with Guardiola a long time fan of Lillo's coaching.
Lillo recalled: "After a meeting between Barça and my Real Oviedo, my assistant knocked on the door of my office and told me that Guardiola wanted to introduce himself. How to say no to a player that I liked so much?
"He said he wanted to know how I coached and we talked. Since then we have always been in contact."
Lillo would later train Pep at Dorados de Sinaloa, in Mexico.
