Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to sign Benfica fullback Alex Grimaldo in January.

It's been revealed Guardiola and his brother Pere, who is an agent, made a scouting check on Grimaldo on Sunday against SC Braga.

Guardiola wants to bring the young Spaniard to England immediately, says Don Balon, and is planning a January bid for the youngster.

Grimaldo is a La Masia graduate and former Barcelona B player.

Given his background, Guardiola is convinced Grimaldo will fit seamlessly into his playing system at City for the second-half of the season.
