Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola played down a clash between Leroy Sane and Hoffenheim away fans last night.

During City's 2-1 win, Sane appeared to be subjected to abuse from a group of visiting fans as he went to take a corner during the first-half of the Champions League game.

It did not appear to be picked up by broadcasters during the game and Guardiola was also oblivious to the situation when asked about it afterwards.

"If something happened, UEFA is there," he reasoned. "If it happened, it is bad news but I don't know what happened."

Given City sources suggested that there was nothing untoward in the footage they had seen.
