Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola would not rule out starting players who are just arriving to preseason training against Tottenham next weekend.
City were defeated in the Community Shield by Leicester City on Saturday, as they fielded a weakened team following the late return to preseason of several first team stars.
The likes of Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Phil Foden, and Rhaeem Sterling all had long summers with their respective nations at the Copa America and Euro 2020.
"A few players get their condition so quick. Others need a little bit more time," Guardiola told the club website after the loss against Leicester.
"We will see the weight and body fat, how they arrive and especially their heads.
"There are players that play after just three, four or five days and the mentality is positive and ready to fight and suffer in the bad conditions.
"But some of them need more time, we will try to discover which are ready immediately, it's simple."
