Man City boss Guardiola: Leeds manager Bielsa a force for good in football

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is full of praise for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Guardiola has long admired Bielsa, having first sounded him out about coaching while still a player with Barcelona.

He said on Christian Vieri's Twitch stream via Marca: "He is unique, no one can imitate him, he is an author of football, unique, non-transferable.

"He is a joy, honesty, attacking, defending everyone, he is a gift for football."

Indeed, Guardiola says he's long regarded Bielsa as a role model, not only for his tactics and approach to the game, but also with the spirit to which works within the football industy.

The Catalan added: "He only does good, honest things, he never cheats. When he loses he accepts the defeat, he always wants to learn."

After victory over West Brom in their season finale, Bielsa declared he would be signing a new deal and staying for the new campaign. It will represent the longest time Bielsa has been with a club in Europe.

He spent two years with Athletic Bilbao, while his other jobs in Europe never reached two seasons long.

On their return to the Premier League, Bielsa has guided the Yorkshire giants to a ninth place finish, winning their last four games in the process.
