Man City boss Guardiola: I won't match Hodgson longevity

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola can't see himself staying in the game as long as Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson – whose Crystal Palace side await Manchester City at Selhurst Park today in a critical game in the title race - celebrates his 72nd birthday in the summer and is still going strong after 43 years in management.

Guardiola, 48, said: “In my case I couldn't do it to 71, no way. Impossible. The fact is that for Roy Hodgson it's because they love it, they like it, and that's incredible.

“To have that passion in yourself is incredible and it will be nice to see him again.

“But I couldn't do it because I am curious to do other things before I die. You know, I love my job but I am always thinking to do something different with my wife, my family.

“And 71? No way. You have to have special energy and at 71 - except for Hodgson - others can't do it."
