Man City boss Guardiola: I want national team job - to help golf game!

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he sees himself taking charge of a national team.

Guardiola, who is looking to make it back-to-back Premier League titles this season, is in his third season at the Etihad Stadium.

Earlier this year he signed a two-year contract extension at the Etihad until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

"I would like to be an international manager in a national team. I would like that, yes," he said at the conference at the University of Liverpool.

But the former Spain captain also joked that his desire wasn't merely down to wanting a fresh challenge within football - but a desire for the keen golfer to get down his handicap.

"It will happen because every three days I would like to be involved but a little bit more calm, play more golf - now I don't have time to play.

"Sooner or later it is going to happen, if I have chance with an international team, if they come knocking at my door."
