Man City boss Guardiola hails Aguero after Crystal Palace strike: He's part of this club's history

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola hailed goalscorer Sergio Aguero after victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Aguero was superb at Selhurst Park, giving the Palace backline all sorts of problems with his movement before lashing home a quite brilliant half-volley to open the scoring.

“Nothing will compare to the moment in 2012 for Manchester City," he said.

"That is in the history of this club. Even if we win Champions League, nothing can compare to that.

“He showed again what he has shown in his career.

"What a goal. What a player. What a man.

"He was injured many times but he has been training really well and he is another weapon we have next Tuesday [against PSG]."

Aguero's goal means he is now one short of equalling Wayne Rooney's record tally of 183 Premier League goals for a single club.

And asked if Aguero would get chances between now and the end of the season to surpass Rooney, Guardiola was unequivocal.

“Definitely!" he said. “He deserves it."
