Man City boss Guardiola dismisses Lahoz appointment for Chelsea UCL final showdown

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola isn't panicking after ref Antonio Mateu Lahoz was appointed for Saturday's Champions League final against Manchester City.

Guardiola has clashed with the 44-year-old Spanish official on a couple of occasions in recent years, most notably when the Catalan was sent to the stands in their Champions League quarter-final second leg defeat by Liverpool three years ago.

But asked if he had been in touch with Lahoz and had thought about his appointment for the game recently, Guardiola said: "No. Not one second.

"I could not care less. I am so confident in my team. You cannot imagine how confident I am in my team and what we have to do."

He added "We are quite satisfied to get into the final but we know if you don't have a huge desire to win it, a huge desire to know what you have to do, then it will not be possible to win the game and win."

Meanwhile, Lahoz has stated in the past: "I have refereed Barcelona a lot and I've always felt respected.

"I've had conversations with Carles Puyol that are on the record, whilst Pep Guardiola has privately told me he likes how I referee, both when he was at Barcelona and with other clubs."
