Man City boss Guardiola defends Fernandinho after Everton win

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has defended Fernandinho after the makeshift centre-back struggled in victory at Everton.

Fernandinho looked vulnerable at times against Everton, particularly when the Toffees took the aerial route to the City box.

"We don't have any other options, he's going to play in that position," Guardiola said of Fernandinho. "The best defenders in the world make these kind of mistakes. With the ball, Fernandinho was outstanding today.

"It is what it is, we have to go with these two guys and then the young players, we'll see Tuesday if they recover for the Champions League game and hopefully John can come back after the international break."
