Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has declared he expects Fernandinho to stay.
It's emerged City are preparing a new one-year contract offer for the Brazil international, whose current deal expires in June.
It's a development Guardiola effectively confirmed on Friday: "I am very confident that he will stay and I am very happy with the three and a half years that we have now worked together.
"He doesn't have to convince me, he already did that on day one. He knows exactly what we think about him and what he has meant to the club for so many years. He is one of the biggest players in this club throughout this history we've had."
