Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says Aymeric Laporte is a step away from returning to action.

Having recovered from knee surgery in August, the defender is now in full-scale training with City's first team squad.

Guardiola confirmed: "He is training every day and has finished training without pain and with a positive feeling.

"I don't know when he'll be ready to play for a few minutes, but he's getting closer and closer."

Laporte is expected to be fully match fit for next month's Champions League round 16 tie with Real Madrid.
