Man City boss Guardiola: Champions League can wait; Prem is 100% our focus

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists Saturday's clash with Chelsea is no Champions League final dress rehearsal.

The two sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday, when City could clinch the title, but Guardiola says the game comes too early to have any bearing on the Champions League final in Istanbul on 29 May.

"If we played the final in one week, six days, there could be," he said. "But after tomorrow there are 21-22 days. Many things can happen. We just have to focus.

"Right now, believe me when I say, there is not one thought about the final of the Champions League," Guardiola added.

"But congratulations to Chelsea. They made two good performances against the king of this competition in Real Madrid. We are going to try to play with the players we decide who suit perfectly for the way they play and have the qualities to beat them."

Guardiola says City are only focused on clinching the Premier League title as soon as possible.

"I've always said the Premier League is the most important title," he said. "We have four games left to get one victory and tomorrow we will try to get it.

"When we have the Premier League, the focus will be the final of the Champions League and everything will be related to the final. I am a cautious guy. In sport you don't talk about it until you have it.

"People might think the guys who played against Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach are going to play the final. Right now, I don't know. What I want is everyone involved in the next two to three weeks to prepare for the final."
