Man City bid £45m for Benfica keeper Ederson

Manchester City has launched a £45m bid for Benfica goalkeeper Ederson, according to Sky Sports.

The fee would smash the record amount spent on a goalkeeper, which currently stands at £32m for the transfer of Gianluigi Buffon from Parma to Juventus.

The 23-year old has caught the eye of a number of clubs after a stellar season in Lisbon, in which he amassed 18 clean sheets in 27 league appearances.

City has recently released Willy Caballero and it is unsure if Joe Hart will be apart of the squad when he returns from his loan spell at Torino.

If the Brazilian makes his way to the Emirates, it is believed he will challenge Claudio Bravo for the top spot between the sticks.
