Man City attacker Raheem Sterling raging over England leak

Manchester City and England Star Raheem Sterling has claimed that he was fuming about reports that have emerged stating that he will be leading his country for the upcoming Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands.

The Colossal Sports Management company issued a statement on Tuesday evening stating the City star will lead out his country on his 50th cap. However, Sterling has said he is unaware of the leak and apologised to Gareth Southgate.

Asked if he knew what had prompted the release during a press conference on Wednesday, Sterling was quoted by Sky Sports as saying: "I couldn't tell you that to be honest with you.

"I woke up this morning, fuming. I haven't had a conversation with Gareth. I haven't had a conversation with anybody in my agency, so it was kind of a strange one for me to wake up to that.

"The first thing I did after coming off the phone to my agent was see Gareth down the hallway, luckily, and I had to kind of apologise to let him know on my behalf that I don't know where this has come from."

There is uncertainty over who could lead the Three Lions out in Portugal as Harry Kane is yet to prove his match fitness to Southgate, and vice-captain Jordan Henderson pulled out of training earlier in the week.
