Man City attacker Gabriel Jesus: Sterling apologised to me

Manchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus has revealed Raheem Sterling apologised for almost denying him an FA Cup final goal.

The 38th-minute strike was initially awarded to Sterling, who smashed it into the net. But replays eventually confirmed after the match that the Gabriel effort had already crossed the line.

That denied England star Sterling the first hat-trick in an FA Cup final since 1953, with both he and his Brazilian team-mate ending up with two goals apiece.

Gabriel said: “Raheem came to me and said sorry and I said to him like: 'Why did you do it!?!'

“It's okay though because we won the game and we won the cup - that's what is important. This season has been amazing for me and my team-mates and the fans. It feels so good.

“It's a difficult competition to win. The Premier League is the most difficult to win in the world - but we are so happy to win three trophies."
