Man City ask after Zenit star Witsel

Manchester City are planning to make a move for Zenit St. Petersburg star Axel Witsel, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport.

With the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager next season, City seem certain to go through a major overhaul and a number of players are expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium over the summer.

Now according to reports emerging out of Italy, claims have been made that one of the players City are targeting is Zenit ace Witsel.

City will feel that they stand a very good chance of signing Witsel as the Belgian international has recently admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League in the near future.

He previously said: "I want to play in one of the top clubs in Europe one day.

"It's true that I like the Premier League, because it is one of the best league's in the world, for me, together with Germany and Spain."

Aside from City, 27-year-old Witsel is also attracting interest from German powerhouse Bayern Munich, and Italian pair Juventus and AS Roma.
