Manchester City and Chelsea are chasing Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Daily Star says Ajax's Dutch Under-21s international is valued at around £10m.

City boss Pep Guardiola wants cover for Brazil ace Fernandinho, 32, who is out of contract at the end of the season but is close to agreeing a new deal.

De Jong, 20, has also been scouted by City's Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Guardiola also wants to add a centre-back and a forward to his already formidable squad.
