Malaga midfielder José Rodríguez has revealed how he was blocked from moving to Chelsea.

Rodriguez was with Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho and admits the Manchester United manager had planned to take him to Chelsea.

"When he was going to leave Madrid to sign for Chelsea we were talking and he asked me to go with him," he said.

"There was a lot of confidence. Then it could not be done because Madrid did not want to sell me. It was tried but could not be done."

Rodriguez is currently on-loan at Malaga from Mainz.
