Major milestone for Premiership attendances reached on Tuesday

On Tuesday night the 200,000,000th fan in Barclays Premier League history will to pass through the turnstiles. Last Monday's Merseyside derby at Anfield saw the turnstiles register 199,977,163th, and at one of the four Barclays Premier League fixtures on Tuesday evening at Fratton Park, The Stadium of Light, White Hart Lane or The Hawthorns the 200,000,000 landmark will be reached.

Since the Premier League started in 1992, there have been 6,543 matches featuring 42 different teams scoring 17,020 goals.

Kevin Wall of Barclays said: "200,000,000 fans is an unbelievable achievement and means that on average over 30,000 fans have turned up to watch every Barclays Premier League game.

"It goes to prove that the Barclays Premier League is not only watched by billions around the world on television but continues to attract millions to what must be one of the best live spectacles any where in the world."
