Mainz tell Crystal Palace to go higher for Mateta

Crystal Palace have told they must go higher to land Mainz striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Palace football chief Dougie Freedman opened talks with Mainz last week for Mateta and an opening offer of €15m has since been tabled.

However, RMC says the bid has been rejected by Mainz.

The Bundesliga outfit are willing to sell Mateta this summer, but are confident they can rake in more than what Palace have tabled.

Freedman is continuing talks with his Mainz counterparts today.
