Mainz chief Rouven Schroder admits in-form Jean-Philippe Mateta will be back on the shopping lists of European rivals.
Mateta has attracted interest from Tottenham, Southampton and Everton since the end of last season and has hit a rich vein of goalscoring form this term.
"If Mateta is in the form he is currently in, then he is indispensable for the team to score goals and help against relegation. On the other hand, we also know that if he continues like this, he is on an incredibly rapid path. He's scored ten goals in nine competitive games," said Schroder.
“Due to the contractual situation, we can always put the bolt forward and act freely. But we also know that next summer there may be demand for the player in such a way that we will think twice."
