Maignan furious with Lille after missing Chelsea move

Mike Maignan is angry with Lille management for pricing him out of a move to Chelsea last week.

The Daily Star says Chelsea boss Frank Lampard identified the 25-year-old as a potential transfer target, along with Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) and Edouard Mendy (Rennes).

However, Lille wanted £32million for Maignan, more than the £22m that the Premier League side were willing to pay.

As a result, the club pulled out of negotiations to concentrate on other available goalkeepers.

It is claimed that Maignan wanted the deal to go through and was left angry that a transfer was not coveted before he joined up with the France squad for this weekend's game against Sweden in the Nations League.

Chelsea have now turned their interest to Rennes goalkeeper Mendy and think they can sign him for a similar price to the one they were willing to pay for Maignan.
